In the vast Saudi Arabian desert, a profound energy revolution is taking a milestone step. Recently, Goldwind Technology successfully signed a 3GW wind power project agreement under the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), providing a complete solution from intelligent units to full lifecycle operation and maintenance for this iconic mega wind power project in the Middle East. This is not only a commercial order, but also a vivid practice of China's high-end manufacturing helping traditional oil and gas giants around the world move towards green transformation. It marks that China's wind power technology has won the recognition of the most stringent "examiners" in the energy market with its excellent reliability and economy.

As one of the world's largest oil producing countries, Saudi Arabia's energy transition trend has attracted worldwide attention. According to its "2030 Vision" aimed at reducing oil dependence, the country plans to achieve 50% of its electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030. The landing of the PIF5 wind power project, with a scale of up to 3GW, strongly demonstrates that wind power has become a reliable pillar force in the energy structure adjustment of oil producing countries through continuous technological progress.

The project is jointly developed by Saudi International Power and Water Company (ACWA Power), Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), and Saudi Aramco, with China Energy Alliance as the EPC general contractor and Goldwind Technology as the core wind turbine supplier and solution provider. The project is located around the capital Riyadh and consists of a 1GW Shakira project and a 2GW Stella project. It will be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2027 and the first quarter of 2028, respectively. After completion, it will become an important cornerstone of Saudi Arabia's green energy system.

Faced with the extreme environment of high temperatures and fierce sandstorms in Saudi Arabia, conventional wind turbine products are unable to meet the demand. Goldwind Technology has tailored a solution with excellent environmental adaptability for this project. The GWH204-10MW large wind turbine provided by it has a targeted enhanced sealing system, which can effectively resist wind and sand invasion and high temperature roasting, ensuring that the unit maintains efficient and stable operation under harsh conditions, and minimizing power generation losses.

In addition, to capture higher quality wind energy resources in desert areas, Goldwind Technology will use its self-developed 148 meter steel-concrete tower frame. This design not only improves the efficiency of single machine power generation, but also stimulates innovative models of localized production. To ensure supply, Goldwind Technology plans to build a hybrid tower factory in the local area. This not only shortens transportation distance and ensures timely delivery of projects, but also responds to Saudi Arabia's call to develop the local industrial chain with practical actions, achieving win-win cooperation. This signing is a key advancement of Saudi Arabia's National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) and also expands Goldwind Technology's global business coverage to 48 countries across 6 continents. From the United Arab Emirates to Oman, and now to Saudi Arabia, Goldwind Technology is deeply involved in the energy transformation process of Gulf oil producing countries with its mature technology and complete solutions.

When China's smart wind turbines rotate in the vast desert of Saudi Arabia, they not only output clean electricity, but also represent a traditional energy kingdom's firm commitment to a green future. The breakthrough of Goldwind Technology has proven to the world that China's solutions are not just products, but also capable of addressing complex challenges and empowering global sustainable development. It injects strong Eastern momentum into building a more diverse and clean global energy system.Editor/Cheng Liting
